It always amazes me how many ways people hold their shuttles and the different places they have their thread coming from when forming their stitches. I tat quite differently to you!!!
This is a great, clear video with a lovely calm English voice.
Well done - long live tatting!!!

I'm amazed too at the different methods of holding the shuttle and where it is inserted, but I tat the same way you do. Jane, I never noticed you did it differently!

One thing I would suggest is that instead of tying your thread on the shuttle, make a slipknot, loop it over the post and tighten, holding on to the short end, until you make the first few winds around the post. Then when you tat all the thread, the slipknot will open easily and slide off the shuttle. Saves all that fiddly knotting. I used to do that too and had to stop and cut my thread when I got to the end. Now I just hold the shuttle firmly and rock it back and forth while pulling on the thread and it pops right off!

Yes, Gina, I hold my shuttle (always an Aero!) with the thread coming out at the top and facing right! Also hold it over my right hand differently too! Next time we meet up we must show each other!! BTW I always attach to my bobbin the same way too!!!
